  • Grew up on a farm in Grass Valley, TX

  • Earned teaching certificate from Texas Women’s University

  • Taught school before marrying husband, Navy officer who was posted at various duty stations from coast to coast

  • Worked at Univ. of Nevada, Reno in government publications

  • Three children, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren
