  • Wonderful homemaker who tended large vegetable and flower gardens

  • Mowed her own lawn until age 96

  • Lived alone after her husband died in 1980 until she broke her hip in 2011

  • Says keys to living longer than 100 years are: believing in God, loving everyone (no exceptions), helping others, keeping busy, and forgiving

  • Three children, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren

"The first time I ever voted in my life it was for the first black man as President. This time I voted for the first woman to hold that office."
