• Born December 1919 in Cleveland, OH to parents who immigrated from Russia and Lithuania

• Attended Ohio University on full scholarship, earning bachelor’s degree

• Served in Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II

• Has pursued higher education continually, including a record 35 years of courses at Cleveland State University

• Three sons, one granddaughter (a recent Harvard Law School graduate)
