  • Born May 1920 in Humansville, MO

  • Taught high school English and reading starting at age 18

  • Worked as teacher for 42 years (not counting years she took off to raise children), retiring at 72

  • After retirement, delivered Meals on Wheels to other seniors for several years

  • Played church organ and piano for 75 years

  • Is a voracious reader who loves learning

  • Five children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren
