  • Taught school starting at 20, for total of 41 years

  • During World War II recruited to paint airplanes and, later, ships

  • Taught every grade (first through 12th) and served as principal

  • Active in civic organizations promoting her community, heritage and history

  • Raised cattle and raced quarter horses
